Licence key not accepted?
What each message means, and how to fix itUpdated ~/licence-key-not-accepted
You enter your key in File > Account, under Enter licence key. If PubStudio doesn't accept it, the message under the box says why.
"That licence key wasn't found"
The key doesn't match one we've sold, which usually means a typing slip. Copy it from the thank-you page you saw after buying, or wherever you saved it, and paste it in.
"That doesn't look like a licence key"
Something extra came along with it, like a space, a quote mark or other text. Paste just the key on its own.
"Already active on as many PCs as it allows"
Each licence works on one PC at a time. Deactivate it on the PC you used before (File > Account on that PC), then try again. If you can't get to that PC, write to us and we'll free it. See moving Pro to a new PC.
"That licence key isn't active"
The subscription may have been cancelled or paused, or a payment didn't go through. You can check your card and your subscription on the Account page. If you think it's wrong, write to us.
"Couldn't reach the licence server"
Check you're online and try again. On a work or school network, try another connection, or ask your IT person to allow pubstudioapp.com. If it says the server is busy, wait a minute and try again.
"Pro is paused"
Pro checks your subscription now and then. It keeps working offline for up to 14 days, and after that it pauses until it can check again. Connect to the internet and choose Check now in File > Account.
Still stuck? Write to [email protected] from the email you bought with, and tell us what the message says. A person will answer.
